Urban forest education

Urban Forest Analytics offers a variety of educational services that are typically tailored to the specific client, context and audience.

We frequently create and deliver lectures that are noted for knowledgeable analysis of new developments with a practical application, using good graphics. Recent examples include:

  • Introduction to i-Tree
  • The validity of decay threshholds
  • Tree load and risk assessment
  • How to estimate tree health

Existing material can usually be adapted to your needs and audience; we also create new lectures on demand.

Hands-on learning in an outdoor setting can be highly effective when prepared carefully. Recent examples include:

  • Field load analysis
  • Estimating tree health
  • Tree Risk Assessment

More lectures and workshops can be found on the Lectures and workshops page. Please contact us if you are thinking of an educational program where we could help.

We often are asked for 1-2 day training seminars, sometimes including certification procedures. The purpose of such training is to bring a group of people up to a common set of standards through practice and instruction.

Recent training we have conducted include:

  • Utility risk assessment (with Christopher J. Luley of Urban Forestry LLC)
    • Audience: utility arborists
    • Standard: risk assessment protocol
    • Duration: 2 days
    • Certification: 3 hr exam
  • ISA Certified Arborist preparation
    • Audience: arborists, foresters and landscape professionals
    • Standard: arboricultural competency
    • Duration: 2 days
    • Certification: 1 hr indoor practice exam
  • Tree Health for consultants
    • Audience: tree professionals
    • Standard: common health assessment protocol
    • Duration: 1 day

We would glad to work with you to set up a rigorous training program and certification procedure.
